The OTB Board is comprised of industry leaders who are experts in their relative field who together possess a wealth of experience in delivering solutions to complex engineering problems. The Board represents our top executive team; led by OTB’s founding Director and Chairman Jonathan Austin.
Jonathan Austin is OTB’s founding Director and Chairman. Jon leads the Board and the Engineering Professional Services division delivering technical and construction assurance to manage risk on major infrastructure projects both in the UK and overseas.
Susan Greene has been with OTB Engineering since August 2015 and Board Director since October 2016. She became the Managing Director and subsequently Chief Executive Officer in June 2020. Susan’s career has encompassed projects across a wide variety of sectors including oil and gas, mining, highways, rail both in the UK, Australia, Africa and South East Asia.
Phil Astle has been the Chief Engineer and Engineering Excellence Director for OTB since June 2014. Phil has more than 38 years’ experience in geotechnical and civil engineering design and construction both in the UK and overseas. He is widely known for his experience in the leading the design of tunnels and underground structures and his particular expertise using SCL/NATM techniques, pre-cast segmental linings in concrete and SGI plus timber/square works. In addition, he is an accomplished designer of permanent and temporary works, familiar with design in steel, reinforced and unreinforced concrete, timber and composites, including fibre reinforced concrete.
Stephen Beauchamp has been the Director responsible for Ground Engineering since July 2012 and become a member of the Board in July 2015. Stephen has more than 40 years’ experience in the tunnelling, mining, quarrying and construction industries in the UK and overseas. His tunnelling and mining experience includes a wide variety of conditions from shallow surface excavations to deep hard rock mines at depths in excess of 2000m. Stephen remains an expert advisor on hard rock engineering and geotechnics acting an expert advisor and expert witness on many challenging projects.
Keith White has been a Board Advisor to OTB since 2016. He is the former CEO, Chief Operating Officer, and Company Secretary of Crown Agents Ltd, an international development company. With extensive experience as a company director and advisor, Keith was awarded a CBE in 2009 for his contributions to international development.
Neil joined OTB in 2018. He is a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 30 years experience and nearly 20 years as a financial controller and finance director.
Eoin Murphy joined OTB in 2014 and is the Practice Lead for the Engineering Design team. Eoin has over 13 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering design and construction, and specialises in tunnelling, geotechnics and temporary works. His experience includes the design of soft ground tunnels and shafts (SCL, timber headings, segmental), pipe jacks, TBM launches and receptions, embedded retaining walls, piled and shallow foundations, slope stability and temporary works design, and construction sequencing.
Andrew Davie joined OTB in 2015 and is the Practice Lead for the Advisory team. Andrew has over 15 years of experience in the civil engineering industry, specialising in ground engineering and tunnelling. His key responsibilities include the management of geotechnical work packages, TBM operational control parameters, assessment of ground-related risk, geotechnical appraisal of existing infrastructure, design of earthworks and groundwater management, procurement and management of ground investigations, and instrumentation and monitoring packages.
David Mumford joined OTB in 2018 and is the Practice Lead for the Ground Engineering Team. David is a chartered civil engineer and UK Registered Ground Engineering Professional with over 14 years’ postgraduate experience. David has strong technical and project management skills with a proven track record of successfully delivering solutions on time, within budget and in accordance with client specifications across a variety of sectors including Rail, Highways, Energy, Utilities and Flood Alleviation. David’s principal experience includes deep and shall foundations, retaining structures, soft ground tunnels and shafts, slope stability, ground movement analysis, and geotechnical temporary works.
Maria joined OTB in 2012 and is a Senior Principal Engineer with Senior Leadership responsibility for risk management and the company secretarial position. Maria is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 15 years of experience. A qualified and experienced design manager, Maria brings significant knowledge of the design and construction of railway tunnels in London. Highly efficient, she has extensive experience of working with design and build contractors contributing value-driven method-related initiatives at all project stages through the design process.
Felicity joined OTB in 2023 as the HSEQ Manager. Felicity is a HSQE Professional with a Mining Engineering and Project Management background. Felicity brings a proactive, results-oriented and practical approach to compliance and conformance management, with an emphasis on business improvement and streamlining of processes.
Sarah joined OTB in January 2024 as a Marketing Manager. Sarah is a results-oriented Manager adept at developing and executing successful marketing campaigns, managing product launches, and driving revenue growth. She has a proven ability to develop and implement marketing strategies, build brand awareness, and cultivate strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Skilled in digital marketing, market research, and analytics.
Phoebe joined OTB in March 2024 as our People and Culture Manager. Phoebe is an experienced and dedicated HR professional with a proven ability to collaborate with company Directors, Senior Management, and departmental line managers to align HR operations with the company's vision, goals, and values.
