Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS, formerly known as Magnox) has a rolling programme of decommissioning nuclear reactors in the UK. As nuclear power stations reach the end of their operative life, the operations to take them offline are complex, strategic and carry significant risk. NRS has an ongoing need to explore innovative ways to decommission the power stations in a safe, secure way, protecting communities and the environment.

OTB Engineering is known for its deep expertise in geotechnics, engineering geology and creative engineering approaches. The team was tasked with devising innovative, constructible and cost-managed additional ways to use the underground space to decommission NRS' reactors in England at Oldbury, Bristol and Dungeness A, Kent, and Hunterston A in Scotland.
