All excavations change the existing stresses in the ground and as a result, cause ground movements. These ground movements can negatively affect neighbouring buildings, tunnels, utilities, bridges, railways.
We have the knowledge and skills to accurately predict the level of ground movement that will occur and the understanding on how the assess the likely impact of that movement on neighbouring assets.
We apply practical structural engineering and risk classification to appropriately define the risks to the structure. Where required we can design mitigation schemes for structures, bridges and tunnels.
In recent examples, we have removed costly invasive unstainable mitigation schemes by adopting a risk-based approach. As part of our approach, we define appropriate monitoring regimes for potentially impact structures to confirm our predictions and secure Letters Of No Objections (LONO’s) from 3rd parties.
