Gravitricity develops long-life underground technologies that help solve the problem of intermittent renewable energy by storing excess energy during periods of low demand and releasing it back when required. The renewable energy storage company engaged OTB Engineering to support a FEED study into developing an innovative way to generate electricity in a kinetic energy system utilising existing disused shafts at a decommissioned power plant.

The OTB team worked on engineering approaches to deliver Gravitricity's GraviStore technology at the retired gas power station at East Knapton, Yorkshire in the UK. OTB came up with an innovative approach, developed the concept design and provided construction estimates.
